We had kick started our Rajasthan Trip with exploring Udaipur. The beautiful City Palace is one of the best places to visit in Udaipur. Situated over an island in Lake Pichola, the Lake Palace was constructed to serve as a royal summer palace. The City Palace presents a blend of Medieval, European and Chinese architectural style that will simply awe you. Some of the key attractions of the palace are the Vintage Car Museum, Crystal Gallery, Maharani Palace, and the breathtaking view of the Lake Pichola and the city from the palace.

Fateh Sagar Lake is situated in the city of Udaipur in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is an artificial lake named after Maharana Fateh Singh of Udaipur. A beautiful lake, overlooked by a number of hills on the three sides and the Pratap Memorial on the north was built by Maharana Fateh Singh. In the middle of the lake is Nehru Park - a lovely garden island with a boat shaped cafe accessible by an enjoyable boat ride.

Karni Mata Temple is devoted to the female saint Karni Mata, a reincarnation of Goddess Durga. The temple is basically a very simple place which is greatly revered by the locals. Most tourists skip this temple, but traveling families like it for the children's love of rope-way rides. Once you take the rope way up from the city palace, you will land at cafeteria sort of place, from where the temple is still about 100-150 meters away. If you spot a white mouse rushing by in this temple, don't squeal, but consider yourself lucky as this is considered fortunate.

ReplyDeleteI love Udaipur. I was there on family trip about 3 years ago. I loved the city, the grandeur and the welcoming locals. We also went to Mount Abu and I loved it as well. :) I am sad that Mount Abu is losing its tourists (and local business) to Goa, Thailand and Ladakh recently. Definitely a must-go places in India.
